The quiet community of Merrimac offers a small-town ambiance with many family-friendly community events including a Santa Parade and Merrimac Old Home Days. Merrimac is bordered by Amesbury on the east, Haverhill on the west, the Merrimack River to the south and the New Hampshire border to the North.
- Merrimac Old Home Days. Every August, the town comes together for a weekend of family fun including the Anything on Wheels Parade, the Bonfire at Stevens Field, the Bake Off and the RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon.
- Lake Attitash. Lake Attitash is located on the border of Merrimac and Amesbury, Massachusetts, and constitutes at least a portion of Amesbury's water supply. There are beaches both on the Amesbury and Merrimac shores. It is safe for swimming and fishing, and boats are allowed on the lake. Beautiful homes and cottages line the shores, offering many peaceful lakeside properties not to be missed!
- Boating. Head out on Lake Attitash or down the Merrimack River to Newburyport and back, under the Rocks Village Bridge.
