Five local graduates each receive $2,000 award
(June 2018) — RE/MAX On the River is proud to announce the 2018 recipients of the RE/MAX On the River Charitable Foundation’s Margaret Cargill Memorial Scholarships. The foundation awarded $10,000 in college scholarships at a reception for the students on June 13th. Five graduating seniors each received a $2,000 award in front of their family, RE/MAX On the River agents and employees at their Newburyport office.
This is the 6th year that the Charitable Foundation has awarded the scholarships to students from Newburyport, Amesbury, Pentucket, Masconomet and Triton High Schools. Students who have completed the necessary requirements to graduate, and who plan to attend a two or four year college or university are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Winners are chosen based on their charitable efforts in their local community.
This year the scholarships have been renamed in honor of Margaret Cargill, a beloved member of the RE/MAX On the River family who passed away in early 2017. Margaret was a generous contributor to the Charitable Foundation and believed strongly in giving back to our local communities. She was a friend and a mentor to so many, and is dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched; these scholarships are a reflection of her spirit and generosity.
“We are honored to be able to recognize these deserving students,” said Sharon Cronin, Owner/Broker of RE/MAX On the River. “These young adults have worked hard to achieve their goals, and it is our privilege to relieve even a small part of their financial burden.” The recipients of this year’s scholarships demonstrate strong qualities of leadership, willingness to work toward the common good, and a commitment to giving back to their communities through charitable endeavors.
We commend each of these recipients on their success and wish them the best of luck:
Kalie Babine, a graduating senior at Triton Regional High School. She will be attending Northern Essex Community College in the fall, where she is enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program.
Colin Cody, a graduating senior at Newburyport High School who will be heading to Ithaca College in the fall.
Lacey Chambers, a graduating senior at Amesbury High School who will be attending Suffolk University in the fall to pursue a degree in Marketing.
Liza Russell, a graduating senior at Pentucket Regional High School who will be attending Colby College in the fall.
Margaret Buswick, a graduating senior at Masconomet High School, who will be attending the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in the fall.
